Apri il file .edmx con l'editor XML e cerca la sezione che inizia con la seguente riga:

Di seguito dovrebbe essere un tag EntityType e in esso è una definizione della tabella del database. Assicurati che la proprietà per la tua colonna ID abbia StoreGeneratedPattern="Identity" dentro.
Sotto questa sezione SSDL c'è una sezione CSDL che ha un aspetto simile, ma definisce l'oggetto C# che rappresenta questa entità. Il visual designer sembra riempire solo StoreGeneratedPatternin questa sezione, ma non la sezione SSDL.
MODIFICA CON CAMPIONE
Ecco un file EDMX di esempio per un'entità Employee, con nient'altro che una proprietà ID, FirstName e LastName. L'ID è il campo che si desidera venga generato automaticamente dal database. Nota che ci sono due posti diversi in cui è necessario StoreGeneratedPattern.
